El copista. The Copyist.
Load a MIDI file and mint it as MMF — the suite's native format, where every note stores its exact Pythagorean identity (3ⁿ/2ᵐ ratios, not frequencies). It is also the master transport: it conducts playback and the whole suite follows.
MIDI → MMFMIDI → MMF
It reads the MIDI file — notes, key signature, tempo, tracks — and organizes pitches by the key signature: every note gets its correct spelling (F♯ is not G♭) and with it its exact ratio. That is "minting": from tempered MIDI, a Pythagorean MMF is born.
Many exporters leave each instrument shifted a few ticks off the grid — the flute a little late, the cello a little more. You don't hear it on playback, but writing it down fouled the copy: the barring found every note starting a hair late and filled the gap with a very short rest, one per bar and per voice, plus dots nobody wrote. Now, on MIDI import, the copyist measures each track's even offset and takes the whole of it out. What it never does is quantize note by note: that is where the rubato lives, and it is left alone.
A MIDI file carries no written dynamics. But when it comes from a score that was played, the velocities are not a continuum: they form a staircase of levels, and those steps are the dynamics. The copyist reads it and writes the marking into the score, under two conditions so the page doesn't fill up with marks: the level has to be held for at least a bar and to jump far enough from the one in force. Whatever fails the filter is not lost — it lives on in each note's velocity, which is what you hear. The markings travel inside the MMF and the Score places them beside their notes. Keep it in mind: what you read there is the interpretation recorded in the MIDI, not what the composer wrote — an entrance can come out mf where the score says ppp.
Lo corregido queda marcado y viaja en el MMF.A click on a note on the roll opens the copyist: its name, its place in the lattice [fifths, octaves] and its frequency. The pitch buttons sit in two rows, + on top and − below: T = tone · L = limma, the diatonic semitone, the letter changes (C → B) · A = apotome, the chromatic semitone, the letter stays (D → D♯) · K = comma: the comma neighbour, with its own name — A♭3 +K = G♯3, C5 +K = B♯4. G♯ and A♭ are two different notes; the limit is a double accidental. Also ±8va, ♯↔♭, delete, duration and velocity, with ♪ to listen. Shift + drag grabs a whole passage and applies the same in batch. What you correct is marked and travels in the MMF.

Each note is a dash: height is pitch, length is how long it lasts and color is the track — one color per instrument. In a trio of 2 oboes and bassoon, the oboes are the upper bands and the bassoon the low band; hover a note to identify it. At the bottom, a bar ruler numbered like the score (the upbeat is bar 0), and the clock gives the position in bar:beat. To move around: Ctrl + wheel = zoom around the cursor; once zoomed, wheel = up and down through the pitches and Shift + wheel = forwards and backwards in time; double-click on empty space returns to the whole work. Right-click is only for the loop: Set A here · Set B here · clear (also with the I/O keys), and the transport loops the section. To save by parts, the ⭳ export button in the roll header: by instrument, the selection or the A–B section, each as an MMF with its movement's key signature. ⤢ expands the roll, and the ? signs lead to the User Guide.
Varios archivos, una obraSeveral files, one work
Drop several MIDI files at once and each file comes in as a movement of the same work, in file-name order, with numbers read properly (1, 2, 10). With a work already loaded, one more MIDI file is appended as another movement — also if you have already fixed notes with the copyist or opened it from an .mmf: your corrections are kept. A MIDI file with several pieces inside, like Bartók's Romanian Dances, stays one work, and in the Score each piece starts after a double barline. To remove a movement: right-click it → ✕ remove from work.
